If you’re curious about roller derby, don’t be shy: We’re a friendly bunch and we love meeting new derby folk. You don’t even need to hop on skates to help out the Dames: You can volunteer at one of our bouts or events, or work as a Non-Skating Official with our reffing crew.
If on-skates appeals to you, we’re currently taking new skaters for our Training and Recreation Team. And if you’re a transfer from another league, there’s room for you, too.
Last (but far from least), if you’re a WFTDA rules nerd—or you want to become one—we love our referees and NSOs, and are always looking for new people to join our ref crew.
Join the BDD Street Team
Maybe you’re not ready to get on skates quite yet (or the skating life isn’t quite for you). You can still be part of BDD by volunteering to help out with league events, bout production, and other areas. Volunteering is also a great way to see our bouts for free—work one bout, watch the other! If you’re interested in helping us out, contact our volunteer coordinator.
Skate for BDD
Want to skate with the Dames? You’re in luck! Our TRT (Training and Recreation Team) is our new entrance team for BDD; new and transferring skaters who identify as female may apply at any time. Throughout the year, there are several orientation/tryouts in which new skaters can participate. Each of these orientation sessions are 12 weeks long.
All skaters must identify as female, be at least 18 years old, and have their own primary insurance before they will be allowed to begin practices.
Join the Officials!
Think you have what it takes to keep us in line? We’re always on the lookout for both guys and gals to round out our officials’ roster. Email our officiating crew heads for more information. If you’re an official with another league, are visiting Boston and want to work with us, please fill out our forms for scrimmages and bouts, and we’ll be in touch!
